Aspheric lenses are used to eliminate spherical aberration in a variety of applications, including barcode scanning, laser diode collimation, or OEM or R&D integration. The aspherical lens is designed with a single component that helps minimize the number of lenses in multi-lens optics. Another way of saying this is that unlike a conventional lens with a spherical outer surface, the aspheric lens uses a more complex outer surface and gradually changes in curvature from the center of the lens toward the outside of the lens edge. Reducing total component usage not only helps reduce system size or weight, but also simplifies the assembly process. Integrating an aspheric lens with an application not only reduces overall cost, but also enables it to perform better than an assembly designed for conventional spherical optical lenses.
